Grammar in Content – Is It a Big Deal?
Does grammar matter in content?
The answer is yes and no.
Consider this story…
We have a client that owns a range of Pilates studios.
In addition, he is also a physiotherapist.
How should he address his audience? Should he stick with technical lingo or go for a more casual tone?
Well, if he’s talking to people in the Pilates studio, he can drop the lingo.
That’s because, for the most part, they are mostly women between the ages of 20 and 45.
For that particular audience, it needs to be conversational. If he uses complex language he may lose them.
However, when speaking to other physiotherapists, the lingo is absolutely essential. The language must be more fact based and technical… otherwise he’ll lose them, too.
What’s the main takeaway from this example?
Grammar in content depends on your audience. Figure out who’s listening and use appropriate language.
It really is as simple as that.
