A common question I come across is “What must you do before creating any content?”
The answer is simple…
… get clear on your target audience.
Knowing who you are trying to target will have a massive impact on the type of content you create.
Once you have done this, you need to create different personas.
This is important because each persona can be targeted differently on various platforms.
So, if you have two separate audiences, you can target each using these personas.
By creating three personas for each audience, you have six different markets.
This is important because each of these personas can be targeted slightly differently on each platform. Plus, the messaging for each persona is slightly different, allowing you to really hone in on each audience.
Within each target audience, you need to go to the next level and articulate the various personas.
Once each has been documented, you can decide which content pieces match up with which persona.
That is the key. You need to get clear on who your target audience is before creating any content. You may have more than one. In fact, you may have five or six. That is great! Once you have worked out your audience, create the personas for each.
From there you can create all of the content you need.
