What’s a Good Conversion Rate?

It’s easy to get caught up in all kinds of numbers that don’t matter that much.

Conversion rates are a perfect example. While many people obsess over them, I couldn’t care less, and neither should you.

Why?

Well, let me explain…

We have a client who lets us handle his email calendar i.e. we do the emails for his list.

And his sales team regularly get swamped with calls.

He gets so many calls that the scheduling software has actually crashed!

And yet, I’ve only asked him about conversion rates once. And I didn’t do this to see if the emails are working, because I know that they do. I only did it to see what his audience engages with the most… so that we can plan for the future.

So my point is, don’t focus on percentages. You can’t pay your people with them. You can’t pay your bills with them.

Only sales matter!

Bottom line…

Unless you already have a ton of experience and are just comparing different campaigns, conversion rates don’t matter.

What matters is the money that you make, so let that be the prize to focus on.
