When to give up on a sales lead?

A few days ago, I was in Bondi with a friend and a client. As we talked, the client came up with an idea to sell his leads to other companies.

He thought about waiting for 60 days, and if there’s no conversion, selling the leads – legally.

Basically he wanted to give up on them.

Right off the bat, I told him that I didn’t think that that was a good idea.

I told him to look at his stats and see the time it takes for his leads to mature. In most cases, this takes about 60-90 days.

It makes no sense to sell a lead that’s just about to convert, right?

Here’s the thing – we all know that we’re overly marketed to. People are constantly bombarded by content.

It’s logical for them to take their time before they make a decision.

What I suggest you do is taking a look at your hottest leads that turn into clients.

What do they have in common?

How long do they stay in your database?

This will give you the right information about whether it pays to wait for your leads to mature.

I can’t tell you whether you should sell your leads. But your dashboarding can.
