Why do we fail?

I am so often asked why we fail.

Failure is natural, it happens to everyone, and sometimes you can’t avoid it.

What matters most is how you adjust your mindset to avoid failure, because your mind is where it all begins.

I contemplate this all the time.

This is not strictly a content marketing topic – it’s a topic that matters to everybody.

Let me elaborate…

There’s one particular company we’ve been going back and forth with for about seven months. And this company is a no-brainer in terms of growing their sales and profit.

We have a big track record in their space. I have spoken many times to the owner of the company.

The list goes on showing him screenshots of our success. Yet time and time again, this particular company (obviously the owner of the company) can’t bring himself to push ahead.

And it’s not even about the money. It truly isn’t.

I’m convinced that it’s the fear of success. This company is doing well right now but could do so much better. However, the fear of success (and what that success means) is stopping him in his track.

We’re all fearful of success. And sometimes, especially when on the precipice of a big opportunity, we can become quite irrational.

And so, the answer to why we fail (and I know that people will disagree with me on this) … is that it is absolutely all about our head game.

It really is. It’s not about the money. It’s not about competition. It’s not about the product. Why?

Because all decisions related to your money, your product, and how you respond to your competition… It all comes down to your head game.

Someone like Jeff Bezos is very famous for his commentary in relation to him not caring what the competition does. All of that comes out of your brain. It comes out of your focus, it comes out of your state of mind.

And so, if your head game isn’t in order, it is very easy to make silly decisions that can jeopardize your success.
